Spats Restaurant is an Appleton Landmark
The historic building dates back to the early 1920’s as an establishment folks liked to come and mingle in. (Prohibition?) The service is great and the food is superb! Spats was built in 1922 offering the ultimate in local fare and flare. Our menu boasts the most delicious food sourced from local family businesses such as Manderfields Family Bakery, Acoca Coffee, Stone Arch Brewery, Navarino Elk Ranch and Jacobs Meat Market. Many of our regular customers as well as first timers have said, “It feels like Cheers when you walk in here, everyone is so friendly.”

Spats offers Wisconsin only beers on tap because of our pride in our local Wisconsin beer heritage. Spats also has a vast selection of bottled beer. We have a carefully selected wine list that we have personally selected as well as a full bar offering many tasty cocktails.

Friday nights at Spats are not to be missed. We have a separate Fish Menu that offers local and exotic seafood dishes. We have the hand breaded Fish Fry adored by regulars as well as broiled healthier, lighter fare options. We offer two specials every day that are not listed on our menu to keep things fresh for our loyal regulars. Meet the Owners Bri & Nick
Born and raised right here in Appleton, Nick began his culinary career working in local area kitchens. He pursued his degree in Denver at Johnson and Wales University where he met Bri, and the rest is history.
The husband and wife duo have worked in kitchens across the country from California to New York. Nick describes his cooking as Elevated Comfort Food.
“Nick and I both have worked amongst some amazing chefs and trained from the best! We picked Spats because we knew it fit our vision and would be a great place to take to the next generation! It was a huge plus that Bill and Julie were nothing but amazing the whole journey. We are truly blessed to have the staff that we currently have! From laughing at one another to the biggest support team, we are all a huge family!!”
